Q: What was your background before Regent?
A: I went to school for Information Systems and came out as a software developer. I’ve held a variety of technical positions including Solution Architect, Team Lead, Project Manager, PMO Manager and VP of Delivery Services. Prior to coming to Regent I was at a very large consulting firm where everything was about big processes and lots of red tape. After that I went to a smaller company where I had the opportunity to help the department as well as the organization grow and mature. I have leveraged that experience in my role as the SVP of Delivery Services where we continue to refine our business processes and methodology. I came to Regent because of the strong product set, but I was also excited to work with the people. I had worked with several of their employees in the past including, Shaun Poulton and Denis Khazan, and recognized the caliber of the Regent team. It has been a great experience and I am excited about the work we are doing and the benefits we bring to higher education institutions and their students.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I’m originally from Bridgeport, Connecticut about a half an hour away from the NY state line but have done a lot of traveling around the country. I went out of state to West Point for college, then served in the Army and have lived in Texas and North Carolina. I now live in Maryland and have been here for 22 years mainly in Columbia and Laurel.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: I shoot pool a lot and I like to bowl. I average a 150 or something like that. I also have a 2 year old daughter, that’s fun.
Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: I have five children, my oldest is 24 and the youngest is 2. When I’m hanging out with my oldest son, they think that my 2 year old is his daughter even though he doesn’t have any children yet. Another fun fact is that I never went to kindergarten. I was born in January and the cut off at that point was December. Pretty much all my life I’ve been the youngest person in my class.
Q: What do you like best about the work you do at Regent?
A: Being able to help the customers that we have solve problems. Regent provides great value automating processes that schools are spending thousands of hours on with high level staff. To be able to implement that and get them out of the manual world is really powerful.
Q: How does your role help customers successfully use Regent products?
A: I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and my experience allowed me to come to Regent and help mature the company by improving implementation more efficiently and effectively. I do this by working with my team leads and the processes, which ultimately helps the customer. I think that’s part of my job here to make that happen.
