University of Texas Medical Branch Selects Regent Enterprise
Financial Aid Software Provides Leading Health Center with a Web-Based, Affordable SolutionFrederick, MD, October 10, 2007 – Regent, the leading
provider of financial aid management software solutions for higher
education institutions, today announced that the University of Texas
Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) has selected Regent Enterprise as its
financial aid software solutions provider.
Prior to selecting
Regent Enterprise, UTMB used a home-grown financial aid database to
process financial aid. As its needs have become more complex, the
university needed software that could process financial aid, enable audit
trails and enhance service to its students. Regent was selected because it
offered a flexible product capable of meeting immediate and future needs at
a reasonable price, according to Vicki Brewer, UTMB’s director of
enrollment services and university registrar. The software will be live by
the close of 2007.
“As a major academic health center,
UTMB educates tomorrow’s physicians, nurses, allied health
scientists and biomedical scientists at the professional, graduate and
undergraduate levels. It was important that the financial aid system
selected be able to process our unique professional programs, provide
web-based self-service to our students and meet our needs for additional
functionality in Enrollment Services,” Brewer said.
Opened in 1891, UTMB is the oldest academic health center in Texas.
Today a $1.4 billion institution, UTMB has awarded more than 26,000
degrees throughout its history to graduates of its medical, nursing,
allied health sciences and graduate schools. It currently enrolls more
than 2,511 students and nearly 700 medical residents and postgraduate
fellows. In addition to its educational programs, UTMB operates an
extensive clinical network that includes six hospitals in Galveston, the
Austin Women’s Hospital in the state’s capital, and more than
80 clinics based on campus and in communities throughout East and
Southeast Texas. Research expenditures exceed $155 million each year in
basic and clinical studies.
“UTMB is a 21st century
institution that is on the cutting edge of medical research and
technology. With Regent Enterprise, UTMB’s financial aid office will
move into the 21st century, empowering them to support the institutional
goals and objectives,” said Michael Ratti, Regent’s CEO.
“We are honored to welcome UTMB to the Regent family.”
